Langwij Finder and Langwij Finder Plus -- New mobile language identification apps for Android (iTunes version soon)!
Good customer service is welcome in any language! And, in some cases, language interpretation is a right, not a choice.
There are more than 300 languages spoken in the United States. Langwij Finder and Langwij Finder Plus can be useful in working through the first step with
non-English speakers -- identifying the language a person is speaking. These apps are specifically designed to assist staff in public agencies and organizations managing programs or offering services
where limited English proficient (LEP) persons have a right to equal access and language interpretation.
Langwij Finder and Langwij Finder Plus can be convenient supplements to the language identification posters and “I speak…” cards that are available from language interpretation vendors and government agencies.
The apps have the advantage of being mobile and can be used in the field where the other language identification tools would be difficult to use. Also, the user can zoom in to enlarge the text for persons with sight impairments.
The Langwij Finder and Langwij Finder Plus apps are available in the Google Play Store.

The user scrolls through the “I speak…” statements in 70+ languages and dialects so a non-English speaking client can point to his or her language.
Tapping the “I speak…” statement displays a "rights statement" for most of the languages, informing the LEP person of the right to interpretation. Tapping a blue 'return arrow' at the bottom of the page will take the user back to the "I speak..." statements.
